Should You Repair or Replace a Broken Phone?

Should You Repair or Replace a Broken Phone?

Our phones are an indispensable part of our daily lives. We use them for communication, entertainment, and work. But what happens if your phone breaks? It’s a question that many people face, and the answer is not always clear. Should you repair or replace a broken phone?

Here at Unboxxed, our preference is to repair. It is usually cheaper, and it is better for the environment. After all, our mission is to keep phones going for as long as is reasonably possible. There are a bunch of great, well established repair companies around. Many of them will collect your phone, repair it, and return it to you either the same day or next day. What a winner!

Sometimes, though, repairing your device doesn’t make sense. This may be because the cost of repair is very high in relation to the cost of a replacement device. Or because your current  phone is sufficiently old that it doesn’t make sense to repair it, because it doesn’t have all that much life left in it anyway.

If repairing doesn’t make sense to you for either of these reasons, the next-best go-to (in our opinion) is a top-notch certified preowned phone. Replacing your broken phone with a second-hand iPhone or a refurbished premium Samsung Galaxy will offer you the benefits of a newer device at a much lower cost than buying new.

If you go this route, just be sure that you are buying from a reputable company. You should only buy a device that comes is extensively tested, comes with a 1-year warranty, and gives you the chance to change your mind and return the device if you decide it’s not for you.
